How do you motivate employees to be more concerned about the environment. By making them realize that people are watching and observing. Social acceptance is one of the basic needs of each individual. To make their activities known to more people, you create a incentive for people to go for a better attitude towards environment, i.e. social appreciation of being sensitive.
How do I propose you to do it ?
Well lets say the person in your office is in the habit of not turning of his monitor/system when leaving for the day. What is the best way to make him turn it off? Its not informing boss/HR since, firstly they have enough work to not get involved in this affair, secondly the employee may not actually give any importance to the bosses request in this regard. Also, lets say he follows his orders, it is liable to be a short-term motivation.
The solution may be to put a sticker on his both neighbor's desk saying "Please help saving the environment !! Request your neighbor to turn off the system when he leaves for the day."
Why will this technique work? Well because nobody wants to be recognized as anti-environment. Also since you are spreading the word to 3 people. You are actually involving 3 people in environment protection in any one instance.
Also since the solution depends on people who are friendly to the target person, it will have the impact sans pressure on the employee. Making him more willing to follow.
At last I will say, just spread the word, and use this or any technique which you feel is effective and Save the Environment. We just can't wait to start on the environment day.

Teachers beyond subjects.
Well adding to the above, probably the only time, a teacher can teach is when he starts understanding the pain points of the student. He should have faith in the students that there are a few who have actually want to study. The essence is "being sincere is more important to being serious".
A teacher in my view is quite contrary to popular thinking, he is not a subject matter specialist, he may be but its not a necessity. What is necessary is that he must have that power to convince & persuade, to motivate people who have their heart in the subject matter to become expert, which is closer to "Teacher doesn't does make you learn subjects, he teaches you how to learn them." . I have been blessed to be a part of two excellent institutions, we had great teacher (motivators), we had great thinkers (they had the knowledge & the vision) and there were the other lot, who knew things, as they were in the book, maybe less but never more (utterly useless). But what surprised me is not the professors, but the students in whom I saw as excellent examples of potentially great teachers (motivators and all rounders) who would teach you everything and use the examples, so pertinent to your state of your mind that it would create interest in the subject. So much so that your whole perspective towards it is changed.
I would like to learn from a teacher, who is not bounded by the subject, who teaches how to learn, who learns along, who gives liberty and freedom to students to differ in opinion. Someone, whom you want in your class, rather than attending his.

The invitation. The election. The sleepless nights
"Give the importance it deserves" wise words coming from a wise man. But what people understand from these sentence are different interpretations indeed. While some think its about giving appropriate importance, others simply believe that the context is important. Hence finally the picture emerges where 6 B-school grads devote there 45 minutes to come up with a 6 line memo. And we are talking about "give it the importance it deserves".
As soon as the college election comes, the behaviour of people changes with it, so much so that you somehow begin to like some and hate the others, the ego clashes among candidates are as big as their aspirations. The glory attached to being accepted to be a leader in a place where everybody has the sole perpose of ruthlessly climbing on one another to be at the top of leadership level seems to play its part. I have seen college elections in two of the most prestigious institutes in India and both have their similarities and differences. While the regionalism is at a all time high during the period, so is the attempt to mask it when one approaches on the public forum. While on the inside people try to get as much as they can from regional sentiments, class unity and such similar criteria. The advice for the fellow candidates and open electorate always is to go for the "Right Candidate". The person as in should be genuinely capable and really interested in the nitty-gritty of job. He shouldn't be a persuer of glory attached only. What strikes me is that there are more than required persons of the capability here, but when it comes to interest, they actually change with time. The point comes back to voting for the person you know, Sadly though :(.
The sleepless nights , actually I can write a blog on that each night and stil will have thoughts to share , because most amount of time I am devoting in a day is on waking up in nights. Not studying or using it for productive purposes , just waking and thinking that its my utmost duty to remain awake, how can I be sleeping when rest of the poor souls in the campus are still crying their hearts out studying , writing memos and doing assignments. Just this thing keeps me awake. Anyways, now I have a task while awake, this blog :)

What is the most useless thing I did today ????
So, finally time for my first trip from college to city. In some ways today was a unique day, from waking up at 8'o clock to 10pm, I had no time to spare, the schedule was jam packed, but still I managed, Kudos !!! :p . The day started with the sinking thought of having 2 extra-classes. Hurried to get ready, and keeping in mind events to follow, took a bath, and had a sufficient quantity of breakfast in just 2 min., Kudos !!! :D again. Then reached the class 1 minute late, but luck was with me so survived there, got couple of bad news during classes (ya .. Quizzes ..... huh). Slept off or rather was caught between sleep by the teacher. And surprisingly caught attentive (by the students) in the last class of the day (Hints ... pindyck). As soon as, it ended, somehow the energy in me exploded, and before anybody in the class stood up to leave ,I was in the mess. Had food, and went to room waiting all the time for Gopi to call me for OIG project. Got a call at 2:55, left campus at 3:15 and reached the Suvarna Auto Ltd. by 4:00pm, asked the guard to take us to Mr.Sharma , he stumped us , asked which Sharma we have a lot of them here actually 4. Anyways , he guessed rightly , it was Mr. R.K.Sharma. We were kinda confused, like we were in some sort of jinx, what place this was. A factory floor, probably the last place a manager from IIM wants to work at. What happened to us, we were here to learn from people doing stuff, which by all standards, did not had anything creative about it. But soon we went through the workshop and saw a lot of things going on, which were simple , but were as important as if not more than complex things we learnt at IIML. A lot of GYAAN learnt and with this intellectual luggage we came back to hostel by 7:30, only to realize that I have missed my swimming time 7:00 . Another Kudos !!!! :) . So went to swimming and then came back and did work on Bhavishya assignment. Then had dinner, (I don't consider it worth to mention any details here) and then to OIG progress report session. And after that I am sitting in the library and writing this blog....... the most useless work I did today is almost complete now for your view.

The hangout place
Imagine where does the Junta at IIML Hangout, with all the hurry and worries they have. Most of you may not guessed it right. Its the Library. My first impressions of library was, why the hell are so many sofas in here, and within matter of days I got the answer. In this hot and humid climate what will be the better place to just doze off. Its convenient, being nearby to the classes. Its air-conditioned and moreover is fun. You can meet lot of people, you can surf wifi internet and you can sleep on the sofa which is much more pleasant than the regular beds. While doing all this you can have a glance at damsels moving around and those humorous looking serious students, who have crouched around their books, just to concentrate.
Another thing about library is that, somehow you can fight your urges to sleep by seeing others. You are also sure to find some helpful seniors.
So the message from in here is , "happys sloggings".

Hell is on Fire
IIML, better known as HELL, and I swear I know why. The gruesome first 4 days actually went by much easier than my memory tells me now. It was kind of the situation where I pretty much had nothing to do , Only to sit still with a dumb face (I was lucky in the sense ..... that god has already made my face like that ;) ). The techniques which came handy were camouflaging and tongue twisting (yes ! its proven, that it can stop your laugh more quickly than a gun pointed on your head can). But now I don't have that advantage, in the real class everybody makes dumb faces, without even asking (another statement proved "There is an actor in everyone"). And it feels sad to have lost that edge of competitive advantage(as they call it here). Why didn't I think that earlier. Oh, I know, then I didn't had the time to think , I was just going on. The whole PLAN of getting in here and enjoying college life now seems a distant dream. The parties are cool and I really enjoy them, yes you guessed it, I am a party ANIMAL. The fact that you are forced to read this blog makes you one of my closest friends and that you should already have known.
What its like here , swimming is good ;) (yes its common timings thing ;)) and the classes are cozy (don't get wrong impressions, its the AC I am talking about :P). Oh yeah! the ratio 1:7 , which from the matribhumi standards in which I am accustomed in ,is good. Ok, no I am not approaching anybody. Why? Because I don't have the energy and patience to cope. Enough is enough , we have to leave this never ending gossip.

I aint no blogger
Blogging,..... huh where has this word come from , blabbing I suppose. Everybody now a days things himself as one. A kind of assertion that they can write and someday when a few people will agree to read what they are writing, they would come out into the world and shout ,"See there , people like what I have in my mind". As though anybody cares.
This brief introduction may have made you think, why in the God's name I am writing this.
Actually its kinda my life story I do things, like the Joker said "I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it!". With the same spirit and enthusiasm , I am starting my blog, lets see where it takes me. Oh ! hell with it! who cares.
